Lounge on fancy rooftops, relax at hot springs and shop at boutique in San Miguel de Allende.

Just an hour bus ride from Guanajuato, San Miguel de Allende is a beautiful colonial town full of ex-pats and wealthy locals. Enjoy a few days of splurging here :)

What to do in San Miguel de Allende

1. Relax at La Gruta Hot Springs

  • Go here on a weekday when it’s less crowded and plan to spend the whole day

  • Don’t miss the best of the pools - you swim through a tunnel into a steamy hot spring :)

2. Eat Nopal (cactus) Berry Ice Cream

  • Yes, cactuses have berries. And you can eat them.

  • They are delicious, especially as ice cream on a hot day.

3. Horseback Ride through Coyote Canyon

  • Gallop across rivers, up steep hills and to the top of a beautiful canyon

  • Not recommended if you don’t have any experience riding horses

  • We went through this company and didn’t love our tour guide but still had a great experience

4. Walk the El Mirador Trail

  • Walk up lots of stairs to a great view point where you can see all of San Miguel

5. Have Drinks on Fancy Rooftops

  • There’s no shortage of fancy rooftop bars & restaurants in San Mig

  • Dress nice and expect to see and be seen

6. Shop at Mercado de Artensanias

  • Don’t save this until your last day like we did

  • There are tons of treasures in here - I could have spent all day shopping and I don’t really even love shopping

San Miguel was very fun to explore and a quick trip from Guanajuato - enjoy your time there!

Salud.
